Boeing is preparing to lay off thousands of employees!

Boeing, one of America’s number one companies, which designs and manufactures airplanes, helicopters, rockets, satellites and missiles, has announced that it will lay off 10 percent of its workforce, as the strike that began in recent months and has involved 33,000 workers continues. Boeing’s chief commercial aircraft officer, Stephanie Pope, had sent a message to her striking employees in recent months stating that the strike was affecting the company’s business and customers. Boeing, which stated that they were focused on solutions for their workers, said that they bargained in good faith with the union to find common ground and determined increases in wages and retirement benefits. However, Boeing announced in its statements that the union had “non-negotiable” demands and that their offers were rejected.

Boeing strike layoffs

More than 30,000 employees then went on strike on September 13. The aircraft manufacturing company will lay off 10 percent of its workforce, or about 17,000 workers. The layoffs will include managers, mid-level managers and employees.

Today, the company has had to deal with financial losses and security problems for a while. The production of 737 Max, 767 and 777 aircraft has been stopped due to the strike of 33 thousand employees in the states on the west coast of the USA. Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg stated that it was necessary for the company to downsize after the production of these aircraft was stopped.

In his message to employees, Ortberg wrote that difficult decisions had to be made to get the company back on its feet and ensure continuity, and structural changes had to be made to remain competitive. Ortberg also announced that the launch of Boeing’s new production 777X would be delayed until 2026, and that production of the 767 Freifighter model aircraft would be halted.

According to the Associated Press, Boeing has lost $25 billion since the beginning of 2019. The aircraft manufacturing company will lay off 10 percent of its workforce, or about 17,000 workers. The layoffs will include executives, middle managers and employees.
