Meta Ray-Ban glasses can find everyone’s data in seconds

Meta introduced Ray-Ban smart glasses in 2024. Smart glasses have many features such as recording videos and taking photos. The discussion that these features violate privacy and security has been on the agenda for a long time. However, in a news published today, it was revealed that Meta Ray-Ban glasses can access people’s information in seconds.

Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses may cause security issue

Two students from Harvard University, AnhPhu Nguyen and Caine Ardayifo, have created a remarkable study on Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses. This study used the glasses’ camera feature and Instagram link.

Using the features of smart glasses, two students scanned people’s faces and transferred them to Instagram to reveal the identities of the people they scanned. Thus, the identities of the people were revealed through social media through the glasses.

Meta Ray-Ban glasses reveal information such as people’s names, address, phone number, and school they attend. Students who made a statement on the subject explained that they used the Meta Ray Bans 2 model while doing their work. They stated that the reason for this was because it was almost indistinguishable from normal glasses.

Although this study is successful, it is predicted that it will cause security breaches. Revealing people’s personal information without their permission just by looking at their faces will create a security breach in the physical world.

On the other hand, Ray-Ban smart glasses have recently gained artificial intelligence support. Thanks to the artificial intelligence support, smart glasses can hear what the user hears, see what they see, and answer questions. The glasses are intended to be used as a personal assistant with these features.
